“A Woman’s Story” looks at genocide, survival, and physical and cultural continuity through the eyes of three women who have experienced three different genocides of the 20th century by putting women at the front and centre of the narrative and transcending their victimization by highlighting their resilience and survival.
Food for thought…
The film performs the function of unsilencing women’s stories from mainstream narratives on genocide, and it seeks to build coalition between women across borders. One thing that really stood out to me is how the women tell their stories via filming themselves on a laptop, which is then shared between the three women. This highlights that in today’s digital world, we can share our stories to create change in unlimited ways.
As always, don’t forget so share this documentary with your friends and family. Lets unite #establishties.
