Marlène Albert-Llorca

Marléne Albert Llorca teaches Anthropology in the University of Toulouse 2-Le Mirail and she is member of the LISST (Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire Solidarités, Sociétés, Territoires). The study of the simbolic and social aspects in the Catholicism of the Mediterranean, takes a central place in her researches, mainly conducted in the eastern Spain and southern France. Among her works: L’ordre des choses. Les récits d’origine des animaux et des plantes en Europe, Le regard de l’ethnologue, (Paris, Eds du C.T.H.S., 1991); Les Vierges miraculeuses. Légendes et rituels (Paris, Gallimard, 2002); Moros y Cristianos. Nouri Bouzid

Born in Sfax, in Tunisia, Nouri Bouzid began his film studies in 1986 at the Institut National des Arts du Spectacle et Techniques de Diffusion (INSAS) of Bruxelles. Graduated in 1972 with a short film entitled Duel, he came back in Tunisia, where he worked between 1972 and 1973 on television, but he is arrested and remained in prison for five years (1973-1979) for his involvement in the radical movement Groupe d’Etude et d’Action Socialiste Tunisien (GEAST). Later he worked as assistent director in many movies shot in Tunisia, including Raiders of the Lost Ark by Steven Spielberg (1981). His directorial debut dates back to 1986, with Rih Essed (The ash man), which won the first prize at the Carthage Festival. Filmmaker with a strong sense of drama, Bouzid faced some of the most untouched taboo of the Maghreb imaginary (sexuality, violence), placing them in contexts of unspeakable traumas and repressed aspirations. In 2009 his Making of won the award for best film at the Taormina Festival. In 1994 he founded the EDAC, a school of cinema where he currently works.

 

Béatrice de Durfort

Beatrice de Durfort has devoted her professional carreer to the field of cultural foundations. She has been Deputy Commissioner for several major cultural programs in the City of Paris, such as “A Spanish Art season in Paris”, or “Appeal of 18 June”, the Commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the death of General de Gaulle. She has been Administrator of the “Dance film archive” of the French Film Library and Director in the project “Ecole des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris”. She became Managing Director of the “Fondation Napoléon”. Since 2004 she is the Executive Director of the Foundation Centre of France. For over 12 years she has been, up to July 2009, President of the “NGO Patrimoine sans Frontières”, promoting projects focused on heritage as a peace making tool, and sustainable developpement, projects dedicated to community in postwar and post-trauma situations (post-Chernobyl contaminated areas in Belarus; the Balkans, Madagascar, Lebanon, Cameroun).

 

Duilio Giammaria

Duilio Giammaria is one of the leading figures in the disclosure of international political issues and on television. He has been the author of “Extra”, first European co-production program. From 1991 to 1996 he worked for Raitre and produced the reportage “Sud”, in collaboration with the French television network TF1. Since 1998 he works for TG 1, in the “Speciali” editorial staff . He has been a correspondent during the war in North Iraq and in Afghanistan, getting two special mentions for his work. Many of his reportages have been awarded in international festivals. He directs the jury of the international Prize of satellite television “Eutelsat Hot Bird Awards”. He collaborates with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with which he realized East Meet West. An Italian Journey in Central Asia, a documentary film about the Italian tradition in central Asia, between Afghanistan and Pakistan. He is the author of Seta e Veleni. Racconti dall’Asia Centrale (Milan, Feltrinelli 2006, 2009).

 

Eyal Sivan

Filmmaker, producer and essayist, Eyal Sivan was born in Haifa, in Israel. Having worked as photographer in Tel-Aviv, he left Israel and settled in Paris since 1985. He directed more than 10 full-length documentary films on political subjects, and he produced many others. He is a writer and regularly he helds conferences on Israeli-Palestinian conflict, political cinema, the exploitation of the genocide and its representation, and the political use of memory in Israel. He directs the production society “Momento!” and the distribution society “Scalpel”, both based in France. Many of his movies had a regular film distribution and have been broadcast by the main televisions all over the world, as Arte, BBC, WDR, France Télévision, IKON, ZDF, RAI, and they obtained prizes and awards in international festivals, including the Cinéma du Réel Prize from the Pompidou Centre, in Paris, the Roma Prize from the french Ministry of Culture, a schoolarship for one year in Rome, in Medici Villa, the Adolf Grimm Gold Prize in Germany. Currently, Sivan teachs in several American and European Universities.
