Study days with Foundation Saint-Exupéry pour la jeunesse

On the 10th and 11th of July, starting from 9.30 a.m., Sole Luna Festival opened its week with the international convention about the visionary author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, two study days titled ‘Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and the Mediterranean Sea’, promoted by the foundation Antoine de Saint-Exupéry pour la jeunesse in collaboration with Sole Luna and Scuola Italiana per Stranieri of the University of Palermo. The meeting, which took place at the small church of Sant’Antonio Abate (Steri Monumental Complex), gathered renown scholars from Italy and other countries.

Roberto La Galla, Chancellor of the University of Palermo, took the floor at first, followed by François d’Agay, President of the Fondation Antoine de Saint-Exupéry pour la jeunesse, Mari D’Agostino, Director of ItaStra – Scuola di Lingua Italiana per Stranieri, Lucia Gotti Venturato, President of the association Sole Luna – Un ponte tra le culture, Frédéric d’Agay, writer and historian, France Britto, Professor of French Language and Literature (University of Mumbai), Antoine Assaf, writer and philosopher (Lebanon), Gabriella D’Agostino (University of Palermo), Carmen Artigas, Professor of Philology (University of Murcia), Pasquale Chessa, historian and journalist, among others.

Protagonists of the 11th were Daria Galateria, Professor of French Language and Literature (University of La Sapienza, Rome), Antonio Velez, Professor of French Language and Literature (University of Palermo), Alice Stori, designer and founder of Storialab, Serge Desarnaulds, Swiss philosopher and composer, Achille Mauri, Chief Executive of Le Messaggerie, and Giovanni Lo Monaco, Teacher of a primary school. The convention was closed by Barbara Evola, Councillor for Education of the City of Palermo.

During the study days, four important and rare documentaries ware projected:

  • Le Petit Prince’, by Arünas Zebrünas (Lithuania, 1964)
  • Visages de Saint-Exupéry’, introduced by Ange Casta (France, 1961)
  • Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’, by J.J. Languepin (France, 1948)
  • Courrier Sud’, by Pierre Billon (France, 1934)

School competition ‘Addomesticare vuol dire… creare legami’: the award ceremony

The one-week long exhibition at Sala delle Verifiche of Palazzo Steri of the works by the older pupils of primary school and middle school ended with the award ceremony of the competition ‘Addomesticare vuol dire… creare legami’. The students had been requested to think over the passage that gives name to the competition and give a visual representation (drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, audiovisual).
