Downtown Caracas a 200-meter skyscraper-ruin is rising up to the Caribbean sky and is used as a shelter for 750 families. Ignored by the city’s administration and dreaded by the neighbourhood the inhabitants of Torre Confinanzas build up their own model of a socialist micro-society in their vertical city. “Ruina” tells about difficulties and achievements by building up a social community.

“Mediterranean Soul” is a performance on a mood. Love or death, victory or sacrifice, passion or purification, all that shakes the life and gives it meaning, resounds in the brake waves upon our stones, in the scent of the sea salt, in the sun that appears and disappears in the water horizon.
Seated woman keep waiting with nets on the lap, rites full of sacredness, stratified customs over time, the light of small lanterns searching for the path of life, voices chasing each other in a poetic theory to better lead us into the atmosphere of this our journey.
The music and the choreographic style are strictly contemporary precisely because they want to emphasize the originality and the relevance of the project and its distance from folk and popular dances, although respecting the relative influences.

“Progetto Amazzone/Platea Civica”
Milad is an Iranian actor, he is a migrant. His condition looks like theater that has never finished crossing human nature by moving every time, on the scenery, the boundaries of its enigmatic dwelling. Milad does not speak Italian very well. He is still in a “halfway condition” that carries with it the “world”. We want to give aesthetic quality just to his linguistic uncertainty but also to a rediscovered emotion, given that our Persian is still a bearer of a sea language, suspended between a departure and an arrival, neither close nor distant from us, from him. It is the best condition to listen to the inner voice of the Homeric poem again, to remind us that ours is a travelling civilization where the meeting with the other represents an opportunity of knowledge and a desire to tell.

A vocal-instrumental project that allows you to get closer to the mastery of composition and the passionate interpretation of one of the most important musicians on the landscape of the new Italian popular music, who is also a virtuous squeezebox performer. “The Giuseppantonio’s journey” explores the Italian musical traditions through a series of original songs composed by Ambrogio Sparagna and accompanied by a small orchestra of instruments ranging from squeezebox to conch shell, from tambourines to hurdy-gurdy, from chitarra battente to horn violin.
The central theme is the mythical Giuseppantonio and his fellow musicians’ journey on foot, started in the early ‘900, from Naples to Marseille. An “opposite” pilgrimage, along the Via Francigena.
Sparagna, through words and music, brings us along this itinerary, including serenades and ballads, lullabies and love tarantella, frenetic rhythms and “saltarelli”, always involves the public dancing to the beat of music.
A lively and engaging show by one of the most important authors and performers of the Italian folk scene.

Language is one of the most effective tools to promote interaction between cultures and mutual knowledge. Through the language laboratory “Do I speak Arabic?”, the Association wants to contribute to the socialization of the different cultural communities present in the territory of Palermo, addressing the younger generation to create, within the Festival, an event that focuses attention on Arabic language. “Am I speaking Arabic?” is a question that usually comes up to the other speaker when she/he does not understand what we are saying. It means the total incomprehension. Actually, Arabic is a language closer than we believe. Expressions like mischino, or zotta of water (in Sicilian dialect) have Arabic roots; and in Italian, if we formulate sentences using the words bizzeffe, magazzino, caffè, carciofo, alchimia and algebra, basically we are speaking a bit Arabic! So, let’s go discover this language and take back our multicultural roots.
Assuming that to play resets cultural and linguistic differences, this laboratory offers activities, which focus on the ludic dimension. Bringing games into the context of teaching, young participants will explore the basics of the Arabic language while having fun. So, for example, they will learn the numbers playing scopa, a game also widespread in the Maghreb (scuba in Tunisia); they will venture to the grocery market in a suq reconstructed within the GAM, to discover that it is not so different from our traditional markets; based on the stories of Giufà (Juhà in Arabic), they will reflect on the fact that the Mediterranean Sea belongs to all of us, a sea that for centuries has had culture, science and knowledge circulating between its banks.
