Italian colonialism remains still wrapped in shadow today. With a careful selection of sounds and images of that period, the film tells about the invasion of Ethiopia in 1936 through the notebook drawings of a young “ballilla”.

Oscar is a Chinese autistic child of 11 years old who lives with his mother Ayen in the Sicilian friends’ home on the outskirts of Palermo. Oscar has lots of fears and the most persistent is that his mother may abandon him at any moment. The only sentence he says with his own free will is “Mom don’t go”. This fear will turn into aggression soon. A trip to China will explode the conflict between mother and son and a wedding will force them to find a new balance and new communication strategies.
