MILANO / PALERMO / TREVISO: UN FESTIVAL, A LOT OF REALITIES

Sole Luna Doc Film Festival, born in Palermo in 2005 and now in its eleventh edition, is a documentary film festival whose documentaries have as central theme the intercultural dialogue, an event able to unite and facilitate the encounter of people, ideas, perspectives and looks, and to bring to the attention of the widest possible audience original and courageous points of view on known or little known realities.
For these reasons, over the years the appointments of the festival have increased and many schools and institutions have been involved, greatly appreciated by the directors and producers both for the visibility that we can offer them, and for the importance of spreading the messages of the movies.
The 2016 edition debuted in May at the Triennale di Milano in the first edition of the Festival of Human Rights organized by Reset-Dialogues on Civilizations with a showcase on human rights, full of national and international premières.
In Palermo, from June 20th to June 26th the Sole Luna Doc Film Festival has proposed a selection of 34 documentaries in competition and a focus on the siege of Sarajevo.
In Treviso the festival will take place from September 11th to September 18th in the Council Chamber of the Palazzo dei Trecento and in Ca’ dei Ricchi, the headquarters of TRA-Treviso search Arts.
The films in competition have been partially selected from the showcases presented in Milan and Palermo, but there are also previews. They have been divided into three sections: Human Rights, which will concern issues relating to fundamental human rights, My Journey, stories of real and symbolic migrations, Filming Cinema, a showcase that tells stories about cinema and famous directors.
The out of competition section Food for Life is dedicated to food as a source of life, but also as a cultural expression and as an example of sustainable development.
The association Sole Luna – A bridge between cultures wanted to give a deeper meaning to this edition in Treviso choosing as opening date September 11th, just 15 years after the attack on the Twin Towers. A fitting tribute to the memory of the victims of all terrorisms and a warning for the future.
