Incontro con / meeting with
Marilena Delli Umuhoza, Nadeesha Uyangoda
So many times, in advertising campaigns, Tv series and shows, we come across characters with somatic and cultural features that would represent the so called “otherness”. Is their presence a symbol of real inclusion or is it only due to “racial quotas”?
Today more than ever, it seems that the popular conscience imposes us to appear – rather than being – inclusive and diversity-friendly. The tokenism that is defined as the forced fetishing of minorities is a phenomenon that seems to fully permeate our cultural world.
The two authors, jurors of this edition of the Festival, meet the audience to deepen the topic and the one of the representation of the black body within the cultural world and the film industry, then and now.
