6 / 12 July 2015 Galleria di Arte Moderna GAM
Piazza Sant’Anna 21, Palermo

This year the festival Sole Luna is 10 years old and will celebrate with a week full of screenings, meetings with the authors and concerts in the beautiful location of the Gallery of Modern Art in Palermo.

The 32 documentaries chosen offer an overview on the current documentary production and are characterized by a great thematic and stylistic variety: from the investigative documentary to the observational one, from the intimate diary to the biopic and to the documentary assembling archival materials. The central topic of the selection is the reflection on cultural identity expressed through various perspectives: the conflict between past and present, the search for dialogue with the other, the interaction with new realities, stories of loss and suffering, but also enrichment and growth.

Out of competition, in collaboration with foreign institutes of culture in the town, a selection of significant documentaries that deeply reflect on the issues of immigration, coexistence and dialogue between cultures, will be screened.

Finally, this year the festival offers a tribute to Michelangelo Antonioni in Sicily through a short film showcase, a photoghaphy exhibition from the different set of “L’Avventura” and a round table entitled “Antonioni and Sicily: a constant attention.”
