ALMOST FRIENDS, Nitzan Ofir

The film is placed in a position of equidistance, recording gently a “history of feelings” full of questions arising from the real, physical encounter of the two girls. From their first contacts via internet to the story of mutual incurable splits, declared indisputable by adults, Almost Friends is a sad parable about an education based on racism implemented by adults but exorcised by the hope that a different world is possible if re-educated by the children’s hearts.

TERRA DI TRANSITO, Paolo Martino
This film records the biographical and existential disorientation of Rahell, a young Kurdish engaged by the filmmaker to be the voice-over of a story that soon becomes a symbolic one. It is told without rhetoric, avoiding the easy emotional impact and moving the empathic complicity of the character with viewer in terms of moral tale, sealed by the apologue of the dog and the wolf at the end of the film.

LA VERDAD BAJO LA TIERRA. GUATEMALA EL GENOCIDIO SILENCIADO, Eva Vilamala

The director brings to light a story completely ignored by the rest of the world with extreme courage and long commitment. The narrative is sober and avoids emphatic tones, particularly intense in recording the statements of women. The central role of the book concerning the commemoration of memories gives the documentary the added value consisting of the gift that is received by human beings, totally deprived of all good, as something precious that rewards them for so much suffering.

THE SILENT CHAOS, Antonio Spanò
Best Soundtrack to The Silent Chaos, by Antonio Spanò, for both the originality of the music and for the importance and contextualization of sound in general.Charming and engaging,it creates a perfect emotional tension in relation to the narrative. The absence of the “Sound of the Word” becomes the sound of silence, where hand gestures represent a sound sign.
The relationship between sound and the absence of it, is explored as a new form of language.
So that sound and music don’t stand out as elements detached from the visual part, but as a single work, inseparable from the documentary.

PRIZE TO THE BEST SHORT FILM

WE ARE BECOME DEATH, Jean Gabriel Perriot
The students of the Arts High School in Treviso award the documentary “We are become death” as the best short film, because it addresses issues of interest and is developed in a comprehensive and impressive way. Students consider it a valuable food for thought, even for a wide and diverse audience. The spectator can identify himself with the context and the will of the director is clear and communicative.
The setting, though simple, raises public awareness about the topics covered.
The photograph is of high quality; both editing and shooting represent a very interesting example for further didactic and educational analysis.

The audience award has been assigned to Ma Na Sapna- A Mother’s Dream, by Valerie Gudenus.
